Appreciations

Embrace Iowa

"Embrace Iowa helped our family be getting us a stove. The stove we had was hazardous. When we would cook on it, it would stink the whole house up. Also, it leaked underneath the stove. That stove was so small that my two year old son could see inside the pan without standing on anything. Now, with our new stove we can cook without smelling anything or without cleaning up a leaky mess. Thanks so much for our new stove. We really appreciated it." ~~Fayette County Resident~~

"We wanted to say thank-you from the bottom of our hearts for picking us to get the bunkbeds. I have 3 girls, 6,4, and 2 1/2 and they were so happy to have beds to sleep in and not the floor. Thank God for programs like Embrace Iowa. We appreciate the bunkbeds so much and we will forever be greatful. God Bless you all."

"I don’t do well on writing notes and thanks but I surely do think of all the good things you guys and gals do , especially those cold days when I’m snuggly and warm. I thank you so very much for you assistance." ~~Winneshiek County Resident~~

FaDSS Program

"I am glad that I was able to work with my Family Development Specialist and the FaDSS program. She was knowledgeable of the program and was a great listener. I felt comfortable to talk to her. I could vent and she helped me see different things that were available for me. I didn't think that I would benefit but I sure did and would recommend the program to others."

"My FaDSS worker was the most help. She helped me get bunk beds for my kids, gave me good information, listened to my problems, and helped me set good goals."

Health Programs

"Thank you so much for being a speaker at the Lansing Middle School’s Human Growth and Development Day! We appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend the morning with us. The information the kids receive is so important for their future health, growth and development. Again thank you for being willing to present such important information to the students at Eastern Allamakee! I am glad I got to meet you and look forward to working with you more in the future. I hope you have a great summer!"

"My daughter was seen earlier today for an exam. She was incredibly nervous about it and I wanted to pass along to both you and Cheryl Pellett what a wonderful job she did calming her nerves and answering her questions. I know that all your patients are treated the same way but I wanted to make sure you knew how much I appreciate it."

Housing Program

"Dear NEICAC, I am here by giving NEICAC my notice of intent of moving out of the Apartment in Calmar effective June 1, 2007. I will need a few days to clean afterwards; no more than a week. I have been given a wonderful opportunity and would be crazy not to take it. (THANKS) Now I would just like to express my appreciation for the role NEICAC has played in my children's and my life. 3 1⁄2 years ago I was searching for a clean and respectable dwelling for my family. You were there giving us refuge from the cold, rain and cockroaches. I will always be grateful to you (Annamarie, Melanie, Craig and now Mark) for being able to give my children a nice place to live and grow. Again, thank you. And now we are starting a new wonderful journey again. Words these days can not express the appreciation I feel towards NEICAC."

Weatherization Program

February 15, 2010
"We would like to thank you for the weatherization of our home this past fall 2009. We can truly feel and hear the difference. Our children tell us how much they like not having to wear extra clothes in the house just to stay warm. The house is very comfortable at a constant 68 degrees. In the past, we could tell how cold it was or how windy it was without even going outside. Now even windy days are not noticeable any longer. Also it is much quieter in the house with less noice coming from the outside. Ice jams on the sunroom roof are not visible now. And one very encouraging difference is that our gas bill has been cut in half for the recent month of January.

We would also like to say how much we appreciate the professionalism of the workers who did the insulating for us. We were not able to be at the house all the time since we both work, but never once did we have any doubt about not being there while the workers were. And when we were there, they were always polite and apologized if they had to walk through a room while we were in the room. And we would especially like to recognize Tim, Jim and Sarah for all their help.

We feel truly blessed that Community Action was there to help us through this cold and snowy winter, and we are certain that when air conditioning season arrives we will continue to notice an improvement. Thank you again! ~~Howard County Resident~~

"Dear Sir: I want to thank you for the fuel assistance, it was a tremendous help. When I called Dean Lansing to repair my furnace and he recalled how old it was - I remember on one occassion he said it was a lemon. When he asked me if I had applied for fuel assistance and I had told him I did - I stopped working last March because of my husband's terminal illness and also vascular problems I had myself - he said I could request a possible furnace. I can not tell you how extremely glad and grateful I am to you and staff. Just this morning one of your inspectors stopped by to check the furnace. he wa most helpful! Thank you many times over for all your help. I truly do see angels surrounding us with all of this kindness.

May God continue to bless you as you shower blessings on our community. Very sincerely ~~Allamakee County Resident~~

"Dear Jim & Crew: Just a note to say "Thank-You" for the winterization you did in my house this past fall. My heating bill from the end of January 2009 was over $90.00 less then the previous year in the same time frame. Anything that can be done to help conserve energy in these trying times is a worthwhile project. Thank you so much for your service."~~Howard County Resident~~

Miscellaneous

September 19, 2007
"To Whom It May Concern: I will not be needing the assistance for Christmas this year as I have in the past. I finally got a good job and recently bought a home. Thank you for helping my boys have some wonderful Christmas and I appreciated it from the bottom of my heart. You helped my children out when I was not able to. Please take my name off the list and add somebody else who truly needs it. It is wonderful what you do. Thanks!" ~~Winneshiek County Resident~~
