Family/Individual Services Program

The Family Services Program provides a starting point for all other services provided by NEICAC. The Community Services Bock Grant (CSBG) primarily funds employees of this program. Offices are located in all seven counties, and the Family Services staff takes applications for nearly all of the programs under the NEICAC umbrella. Duties include taking of applications, referral to the proper service provider, coordination with other community resources, emergency aid for individuals and families, and nearly anything that will ensure that the basic needs of food, clothing shelter and transportation are met. Annually the outlying staff members assisted more than 4800 families and 12,600 individuals and make approximately 3,000 referrals to other agencies. The majority of the Family Service providers are also trained Family Development Specialists. The Family Development Specialist certification process provides these staff members with the tools to be effective advocates for families and individuals working to become fully self-sufficient.
