Make a Donation - Change a Life

Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation (NEICAC) is a 501(c)3 private non-profit operating in NE Iowa. Chartiable donations from individuals, businesses, school⁄church groups, made to NEICAC are always needed and may have a tax benefit to the donor.

Individuals and families in your community struggle every day to provide basic needs such as food, shelter and utilities. Your contribution to NEICAC can make the difference to provide a hand-up to self-sufficiency.

Did you know:

  • $10 could buy food for a day for a family of four
  • $20 could buy a book of 10 one way in-town rides from Transit
  • $25 could buy toilet paper and laundry detergent for a family for a month - items not covered with Food Assistance Program (Food Stamps)
  • $50 could buy an eye exam
  • $75 could buy an infant car seat or $100 could buy a convertible car seat
  • $100 could help prevent a utility disconnection or could help pay for emergency dental work
  • $100 could buy 10 books for the Head Start classroom
  • $240 could buy one case of laundry detergent - items not covered with Food Assistance Program (Food Stamps)
  • $250 could buy a truckload of groceries for the food pantry

How You Can Make a Donation

If you would like to make a donation by check or money order, download NEICAC's donation form. 100% of all donations go directly to income-eligible recipients. NEICAC retains no donations for administrative costs.

Energy Assistance Programs

Each year, low income families in our seven county area struggle to pay their energy bills. As the cost of energy rises, the need for emergency assistance also rises. You can help your neighbor through a crisis by making a one time or monthly donation to Aquila, Inc., Alliant Energy or MidAmerican Energy. The application process is simple. Just click on the appropriate link below and complete the application process. Your donation will stay within your area to help your friend, family member or neighbor in need.

Estate Planning

NEICAC relies on continual donations and grants to provide our clients with assistance in their time of need. Individuals and families in your community struggle every day to provide basic needs such as food, shelter and utilities. United Way

Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation (NEICAC) is a participating agency with the three United Ways that exist in our seven county service area.

The United Way of Winneshiek County covers all of Winneshiek County and annually provides NEICAC with funding for two areas:

  • Provide assistance to low-income households with the cost of swimming lessons, swim passes and registrations for park and recreation programs. This program ensures that children from low-income homes have the same basic opportunities for participation in programs as other children.
  • Provide "crisis assistance" to Winneshiek County households that are facing eviction or utility disconnect, or need emergency fill of LP.

The Waverly-Shell Rock United Way covers the majority of Bremer County and the community of Shell Rock located in the extreme eastern edge of Butler County. The Waverly-Shell Rock United Way provides NEICAC with funding to assist Bremer County residents that are facing the emergency of eviction or loss of utilities.

The Oelwein Area United Way covers the geographic area of Oelwein and its immediate surrounding communities, including the community of Hazelton in extreme northern Buchanan County. The Oelwein Area United Way provides funding to assist households facing the crisis of eviction or utility disconnection.
